The 1950 film "Pagan Love Song" is about a man and woman who meet in Tahiti and fall in love. Mimi Bennett (Esther Williams) is a mixed race native girl who lives in Tahiti.
 
Hazard Endicott (Howard Keel), who owns an estate on the island, arrives on a ship and sees the beautiful Mimi in a boat.
 
He tosses her a coin, they meet and fall in love, and every so often one tosses a coin to the other, usually while one or both are swimming.
