"The Saint" was a one hour British television series, which originally aired on Independent Television (ITV) in 1957. The program was based on the novels and stories written by Leslie Charteris from 1928 to 1963 featuring the character Simon Templar who was known as "The Saint".

The series was usually set in Britain but sometimes in France.

Simon Templar was a British gentleman who would help people in trouble using the skills of a secret agent.

This episode is titled "Invitation to Danger" and was first broadcast on February 17, 1968.

Simon Templar (Roger Moore) visits a British gambling casino and meets Reb Denning (Shirley Eaton), a good-looking blonde. He rescues her from a parking lot attacker and she takes him to a house where he is drugged. He awakes and finds the body of a CIA agent and takes a gold coin from him. The coin reappears a few times during the program.

The gold coin is stated to be a British five-pound gold coin of Queen Victoria dated 1887. The coin in the program is no doubt a copy as a real coin is a collector's item and worth a lot of money.

Britain minted a series of gold coins in 1887 to celebrate the "Jubilee" or the 50th anniversary of Queen Victoria's reign.

The coins were 1/2 sovereign, one sovereign, two pounds, and five pounds and all used the same design with a new "Jubilee Head" bust of Queen Victoria wearing a crown and the long-used "St. George and the Dragon" on the reverse.

Britain continued to mint the 1/2 and one sovereign with the same design for the next five years.
