"Baywatch" was an one-hour television series which ran on the NBC television network for one year and then in syndication from 1989 to 1999. It was set on a Los Angeles beach and the main characters were lifeguards who patrolled the beaches.

This episode is titled "K-Gas the Groove Yard of Solid Gold" and was first broadcast on November 19, 1994.

A radio host stages a promotional contest where contestants can find clues and the winner will receive a gold doubloon worth $100,000. The contest draws many people to the beach and some engage in risky behavior requiring rescue by the lifeguards.

The gold doubloon is shown several times but the coin in the program does not resemble a real doubloon.
