"Bat Masterson" was a half-hour television program which ran on the NBC television network from 1958 to 1961.
 
The program was loosely based on the real Bat Masterson who spent some time in the American West. He is portrayed by Gene Barry as a dressed up "dandy" wearing a derby hat and carrying a cane.
 
This episode is titled "The Big Gamble" and was first broadcast on June 16, 1960.
 
It is 1884 and Bat Masterson (Gene Barry) arrives in the Arizona Territory. He is looking for his friend Steve Fansler (Evan Thompson) who had come there to search for the Lost Dutchman's Mine in the Superstition Mountains. He meets Allesandro Vallin (Anthony Dexter) who is also looking for a friend. The two men encounter a Mr. Smith (Arch Johnson) at a ranch house.

2. Bat Masterson and Allesandro Vallin visit the Apache Saloon
Bat is looking for a friend, Steve Fansler, who went looking for the infamous Lost Dutchman's Mine. The bartender (Gene Roth) sells Bat a map and Bat meets Allesandro Vallin who is also looking for a missing friend.
 
The two men follow the map which leads to a ranch house where they meet a Mr. Smith.

3. Bat and Allesandro meet Mr. Smith and Kana
Kana (Morgan Woodward) is a large Indian who doesn't speak. Bat and Allesandro also meet Angelita Smith (Heather Ames), Mr. Smith's daughter.
 
The two men learn that Mr. Smith has kidnapped several men (including Fansler) and forcing them to work as peons in his silver mine. They also learn that Angelita is Smith's captive and not his daughter.
 
Mr. Smith and Kana keep a large dog Bruno who they beat and do not feed well.
 
Mr. Smith offers to play cards with Bat and Allesandro betting $4000 in $20 gold pieces against their freedom.

The coins appear to be dollar-size prop coins.
 
At this point the television channel inserted an advertisement for US $20 gold coins and then returned to the program.

6. Angelita watches while the men play poker
Allesandro loses his money and leaves. Kana manages not to see Allesandro head for the mine. Angelita gave Allesandro a key and he unlocks the chained men in the mine.

7. The cards and the coins
Bat wins Smith's money but knows Smith will keep him there. Smith pulls out a gun and Bat claims to have a gun pointed at Smith under the table.

8. Mr. Smith and Bat in standoff
Allesandro arrives with the freed Fansler and tells Smith that the other men are coming. Smith reaches for his gun and Bat shoots him. The dog then attacks Kana.

9. Animal abuser gets bit
Fansler and Angelita kiss and Bat and Allesandro leave.

10. Bat and Allesandro visit the saloon again
Bat plans to turn the bartender over to a US Marshal for assisting Smith.
