The 1970 film "Scrooge" is a musical film based on the well-known Charles Dickens 1843 story A Christmas Carol. The film is set later in the Victorian era on Christmas Eve in 1860.

Ebenezer Scrooge (Albert Finney) is the surviving partner in a private bank and a greedy and nasty person. His deceased partner Jacob Marley (Alec Guinness) visits him and warns him that if he continues his ways he will be doomed.

At the beginning of the film Scrooge is at work and takes out his money, gold coins then, to examine them. The coins are shown on a tray and are prop coins imitating gold sovereigns or "guineas."
