The Bowery Boys find a pirate's treasure chest with doubloons and pieces-of-eight

The 1957 film "Hold That Hypnotist" is one of the last "Bowery Boys" films
with only Huntz Hall as "Sach" from the original group. The story was very loosely based on the "Bridey Murphy"
story which was about a woman who supposedly recalled a past life while under hypnosis.

1. Title
The "Bowery Boys" in this film are Sach, Duke, and minor characters Chuck and Myron.
2. Mrs. Kelly reading
The book is The Previous Life of Sally Klingel as Revealed Under Hypnosis by Dr. Simon Noble.
Mrs. Kelly wonders if she was a famous person and makes an appointment with Dr. Noble, agreeing to bring
$200 to him. The boys learn of this and decide to see the doctor, whom Duke knows to be a quack.
3. Duke and Sach confront the doctor
Duke volunteers to be hypnotized but the doctor fails with him. Sach then volunteers.
4. Dr. Noble hypnotizes Sach
Sach describes his previous life.
5. Sach in 1682
He is Algy Winkle, an English tax collector working in 1682 Charleston, South Carolina.
He attempts to collect taxes from the pirate Blackbeard who challenges him to a fictional gambling game.
6. Playing for money
The "game" is played with rocks but coins are on the table too.

Blackbeard loses his money and also a map showing where he left a treasure chest.
Sach awakes from the hypnosis and can not remember anything.
8. Dr. Noble's group
The treasure is located in a cave and the men bring digging tools.
9. Sach's group
Sach's group somehow arrives first.
10. Sach's history book
The comic book which apparently inspired Sach's story.
11. Opening the chest
A skeleton jumps out leaving an empty chest. The boys discover the jewels hidden under the top.
12. The jewels
Dr. Noble's gang arrives and a comical fight ensues leaving Noble's men in a pool of water.
13. Dr. Noble's gang all wet
Sach and the boys hold a party to celebrate the treasure find.
14. Pirate party
They have some unexpected visitors.
15. The police arrive
The police detective explains that the "treasure" was from the robbery of a jewelry store six years ago
and confiscate the jewelry.
