The 1954 film "Desiree", also known as Désirée, is about a young French woman Desiree Clary (Jean Simmons) who becomes the first love of Napoleon Bonaparte (Marlon Brando) and then marries one of his generals Jean-Baptiste Bernadotte (Michael Rennie).
 
At the beginning of the film Desiree loans Napoleon 98 francs so that he can travel to Paris. Years later when he has become the emperor of France he sends her a case with the money in gold coins.
 
The coins appear to be prop coins with shields on one side.
