The 1945 film "Christmas in Connecticut" is about a woman Elizabeth Lane (Barbara Stanwyck) who writes a magazine column about her farm in Connecticut where she practices gracious country living, cooking elaborate meals for her husband, and taking care of a baby.

Elizabeth Lane actually lives in a New York apartment, can not cook, and has no children.

A sailor, Jefferson Jones, is in a military hospital recovering from a ship sinking and his nurse writes to Alexander Yardley, the owner of the magazine, asking him to introduce him to Elizabeth and arrange for Jefferson to spend Christmas at Elizabeth's "place in Connecticut." Yardley thinks this is an excellent idea.

Elizabeth and her friends have to come up with a Connecticut farm and a chef to do the cooking.

It is winter and some of the group arrive at the farm in a sled. One man pays the driver two coins that look like half-dollars but are actually "Prosperity Lucky Ship" tokens. The man also leaves a one cent "tip" which is blurred but resembles an Indian Head cent.
