"Sherlock Holmes" was a British television series produced by Granada Television
and broadcast from 1984 to 1994.
Some episodes were broadcast under the title "The Return of Sherlock Holmes."
It is set in 1894, three years after Sherlock Holmes disappeared at Switzerland's Reichenbach Falls in 1891. Dr. Watson and every one else had believed that Holmes was dead. |

Dr. Watson sees Sherlock Holmes fighting with Professor Moriarty and both of them go over the falls.

Dr. Watson has opened an office in London and is working as a police surgeon.

He is called to examine the body of a young Englishman, Ronald Adair, who has been shot.

They appear to be British sovereigns and half crowns of the period and most likely would have a portrait of Queen Victoria on them. ![]() 6. Flashback desk

Both men wish that Sherlock Holmes was still around to work on the case.

Dr. Watson encounters an old bookseller who follows him back to his office.
The bookseller removes a disguise.

Dr. Watson is, of course, surprised. Holmes tells him that he faked his death and then disappeared to avoid
Moriarty's henchmen wanting revenge.
For two years I travelled to Tibet and amused myself by visiting Lhasa and spending some time with the head lama.
I then moved through Persia and paid a short but interesting visit to the Khalifa in Khartoum.
Dr. Watson still lives at 221B Baker Street and has left Holmes' room untouched.
They notice that there is a vacant house across the street and explore it.

Holmes has placed a plaster bust of himself in a window.

A man enters the empty house and puts together an exotic air rifle.

Holmes jumps on the man and the noise brings Lestrade and several policemen.

The man is identified as Colonel Sebastian Moran, one of Prof. Moriarty's henchmen.
Some items found on him indicate that he also used his weapon to kill Ronald Adair.

Holmes tells Watson that Colonel Moran had become a "card shark" and was visiting a club and making money by cheating at cards.
Adair had told Moran that he was going to inform the other club members of Moran's activities.
