John Munn lives in a remote rural area since his wife Audrey died. His brother Deel arrives on parole
to visit John and his sons Tim and Chris.

John puts Deel to work on the farm.

The stuffed animal has been ripped open.

Deel has found the coins behind a painting.

The coins appear to be imitations of Spanish Mexican "cob" doubloons (eight escudo) gold coins.
6. Deel following the boys
The boys ride a freight train and drop off near an urban camp where they meet two girls.

Tim forms a friendship with Violet.
8. Violet finds a coin
She leaves the coin alone and puts it back in the bag.
9. Chris holds up the red sock
Chris dumps the coins into the water.

The coins fall slowly into the water.

Deel's money dreams evaporate and he attacks Chris only to be stabbed by him.
