The 1964 film "Dr. Strangelove" is a comedy about an insane US Air Force general who launches a nuclear bombing raid on the Soviet Union. The full title of the film is "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb."

US Air Force Brigadier General Jack D. Ripper (Sterling Hayden) is commander of a small B-52 bomber base. He has become convinced that Communists have launched various plots, some personally directed at him, and orders his bombers to attack the Soviet Union.

Royal Air Force Group Captain Lionel Mandrake (Peter Sellers) works for Gen. Ripper and sees that he is insane. In Washington, General Buck Turgidson (George C. Scott) briefs the President on the situation. Soldiers are sent to take over Gen. Ripper's base and the general kills himself.

Colonel "Bat" Guano (Keenan Wynn) arrives with a rifle and talks to Captain Mandrake. Capt. Mandrake tries to use a coin operated telephone to call the President but does not have enough change.

Capt. Mandrake asks Col. Guano to shoot open a nearby Coca-Cola vending machine which he does causing various US dimes to fall out, including both Mercury and Roosevelt dimes.
