Motion Picture companies use many different types of imitation coin in films. These coins are called "prop" coins as they are stored with the other company items.

The Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Company (LASRC) was founded in the early 1900's. It manufactured business and advertising tokens, badges, and other stamped metal products. The company also manufactured imitation coins used in motion pictures or movie prop coins.

In 1920 it was located at 131 South Spring Street in Los Angeles California. In 1925 the company moved to 1500 South Los Angeles Street in Los Angeles.

The name was changed to the Los Angeles Stamp and Stationery Company in 1935. The company closed for business in 1964.

Other companies manufactured motion picture prop coins. Some examples are below.

Los Angeles Rubber Stamp Company - Other Coins:

Prop coins similar to these have been seen in films. They appear to be the size of a US dollar coin. They have either an inscription "SOUVENIR" within a wreath or a horseshoe enclosing a wishbone. I have never seen one of these except in films. The illustrations are drawings only.
