The United States issued large size notes from 1863 to 1929.
This Silver Certificate note is from 1923 and belonged to my grandfather.
 
The signatures are:
Harley V. Speelman, Register of the Treasury
Frank White, Treasurer of the United States

These notes were overprinted with "HAWAII" after the Japanese attacked the state in 1941.
If the Japanese invaded Hawaii and captured the money,
they would not be able to spend the money on the mainland.
 
The note is a $10 Federal Reserve note Series of 1934, the signatures are:
Henry Morgenthau, Jr., Secretary of the Treasury
W. A. Julian, Treasurer of the United States

The United States issued these Fractional Currency notes during the Civil War when coins were scarce.
 
Fifth Series - William H. Crawford 1875 50¢
 
"Act of March 3rd 1863" and "Act of June 30th 1864"
William H. Crawford was the Secretary of the Treasury from 1815 to 1825.
 
Purchased May 1, 2011 for 50¢, thus not gaining any value over the 150 years of it's existence.
