Young boy's medallion proves ownership of outlaw's treasure coins

Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 short story "The Treasure of Franchard".

David is taken in by a medicine show proprietor and then by Homer 'Doc' Brown.

Homer tells David that he doesn't like living in cities, especially the "sinful" San Francisco.

7. David descends
He finds a cave and calls to Homer to come down.

The pair spot the treasure chest which contains gold mining pans.

The right pan has what appears to be gold coins, no doubt prop or imitation coins.

Homer compars his medallion with David's medallion.

He makes a surprising discovery.

Homer is proved to be David's uncle.
The pair return to Burney Falls to retrieve the chest. 13. Retrieving the chest
