The 1970 film "Spring and Port Wine" is a British film about a family living in the British city of Bolton, an industrial town located near the large city of Manchester.

The head of the family is Rafe Crompton (James Mason) who is somewhat of a family dictator. His wife Daisy (Diana Coupland) manages the family money which Mr. Crompton keeps locked in a desk.

They have four children, Florence Crompton, Harold Crompton, Hilda Crompton, and Wilfred Crompton who is almost always seen carrying a large tuxedo cat.

The family pools whatever money they make from jobs and Florence assists with the family accounting.

Early in the film when Mrs. Crompton and Florence do the accounting, some currency notes and coins appear on a table. Later some coins appear in front of the two women.
