The 1958 film "The Sheriff of Fractured Jaw" is a British comedy Western film about a Victorian era Englishman who travels to the American West to sell guns. He arrives during a feud between two ranchers and a group of Indians. The Englishman is mistaken for a gunman and is hired as the town sheriff.
 
After becoming accepted by some of the residents he joins a poker game and, advised by a dog, wins a large amount of money. Silver dollars are shown on the card table, they are most likely prop coins.

1. Title
In England of the Victiorian 1880's Jonathan Tibbs is a member of the Tibbs family whose family business is guns. Their company sign reads:
"Tibbs & Company, Armourers & Gunsmiths, Established 1605".
 
Jonathan goes to work in their office and finds that the company is in bad financial shape. He reads about the widespread use of guns in the American West and decides to go there to sell the company's guns.

2. Jonathan Tibbs leaves England
After some time he arrives in the "Wild West".

3. The Wild West
Indians attack the stagecoach and Jonathan manages to talk the Indian chief into halting the attack.
 
The stagecoach continues to the small town of "Fractured Jaw" and when he arrives he heads for the only hotel which is run by Kate, a tough young woman. Kate also manages the saloon.

4. Jonathan meets Kate
Jonathan is carrying a specially made pistol and after two local gunmen challenge him he is able to "outdraw" them without firing the gun. Jonathan learns that two ranches, the "Box-T" and the "Lazy-S", have been fighting over a water hole. Some townspeople ask him to be the sheriff.

5. Jonathan accepts the position
Kate is continually advising Jonathan to leave town as the ranchers would try to kill him.
 
Jonathan is invited to a poker game and sitting next to him is Kate's dog, a collie.

Jonathan has never fired a revolver and Kate takes him into the country to show him how.

The pair start feeling affection for each other.
 
Jonathan is captured by the Indians and, after being subjected to some bravery tests, is adopted into the tribe. Chief Red Wolf is the tribal chief and Running Deer is the only Indian who speaks English as he spent some time in a White-run school.

Back in town, Jonathan talks to Kate about the ranch feud and ending it.

She again complains that he will be killed. He rides out to the country followed by Kate. The pair are sighted by gunmen working for both ranches and are surrounded.

The Indians surround the two groups of ranchers and take them to the town jail. Jonathan brokers an agreement between the ranchers to share the water with the Indians.
