The 1954 film "Return to Treasure Island" is a modern-day treasure hunting story using the events of Robert Louis Stevenson's 1883 novel Treasure Island as a prologue.

1. Coins and map
The coins appear to be prop coins imitating gold coins.

2. Captain Flint and Long John Silver
Two hundred years ago two pirates from the novel, Captain Flint and Long John Silver, bury a treasure chest. Captain Flint then kills Long John. Later, Captain Flint is dying and draws a map to the treasure.
 
In the modern day Jamie Hawkins (Dawn Addams), a descendant of Jim Hawkins of the book, has the treasure map. She hires Captain Cardigan and his boat to take her to the island.
 
Maxie Harris (Porter Hall), a researcher, joins her. Maxie and three crew members stage a mutiny and take over the boat. The boat lands on the island and then another boat arrives with a another crew of treasure hunters.
 
Clive Stone has been living on the island for a while and appears to rescue Jamie from the mutinous crew. The two groups chase each other around the island and finally Clive and Jamie enter a cave and find the treasure chest.

3. Clive and Jamie examine the chest
The two treasure hunter groups fight each other with guns and explosives leaving Clive, Jamie, and Captain Cardigan.

4. The treasure
The three spread the treasure out and some coins appear at the bottom.
