The 1968 film "Oliver!" is a musical film based on the Charles Dickens novel Oliver Twist.
 
Oliver Twist (Mark Lester), an orphan boy in Victorian Britain, escapes from workhouse and moves to London where he is recruited as a pickpocket by the criminal fence Fagin (Ron Moody).
 
Fagin keeps a chest of gold coins which he sometimes takes out to count and examine.
