The 1945 film "Dillinger" is loosely based on the career of 1930's bank robber John Dillinger. Dillinger (Lawrence Tierney) is sent to prison for a minor robbery, meets Specs Green, a big-time bank robber, escapes from prison, helps Specs and his gang to escape, and joins their gang on the outside to commit robberies.

John convinces the gang to use gas bombs to rob a bank and at their hideout he and Specs argue over how to split the money.

John meets Helen Rogers (Anne Jeffreys), a theater clerk, and she becomes his girlfriend. At the hideout, various bills and coins are shown on a table.
