The 1956 film "Beyond a Reasonable Doubt" is about newspaper reporter Tom Garrett (Dana Andrews) who makes an agreement with his newspaper publisher to plant false clues that will lead to the reporter's conviction for the murder of a showgirl. The plan is then to reveal the hoax.
 
One of the false clues is to make Tom Garrett look like a womanizer. He visits another showgirl named Dolly Moore and asks her for a date.
 
To show that he means business, Tom pulls out a wad of cash in a gold coin money clip.
