The 1975 film "Barry Lyndon" is about an Irish rogue in 1700's Ireland.
 
Redmond Barry (Ryan O'Neal) is a young man living in Ireland in the 1750's who wants to get ahead in the world. He marries Lady Lyndon, a rich widow with a son, and becomes Barry Lyndon. They have a son who dies young. Barry leaves for many years of military service.
 
Barry returns in the 1770's. Lady Lyndon's first son has become Lord Bullingdon. Lord Bullingdon hates Barry and challenges him to a gun duel. The men toss a coin to decide who fires his gun first.
 
The coin lands on the ground heads up. It is a British King George III halfpenny.
