"NCIS" is a military-themed television series which runs on the CBS Network. It started running in 2003 and is still running. NCIS is the United States Naval Criminal Investigative Service based in Washington DC. It is an organization which investigates crimes connected with the Navy or Marine personnel.

This episode is titled "Privileged Information" and was first broadcast on October 4, 2016. The story is about the investigation of the death of a woman Marine who fell from the roof of her Washington DC apartment building. The Marine served in Afghanistan and was seeing a psychiatrist about some problems. Several clues and events lead the investigators to a gold coin hoarder, a coin and bullion dealer, and a suitcase full of gold coins, portrayed by imitation or prop coins.

Erin Hill is a woman Marine who falls from the roof of her apartment building and lands on the ground. She is seriously injured and taken to a hospital where the doctors do not expect her to survive. The NCIS group is called in to investigate the fall due to her military status.

The large computer screen shows the woman's identity card and photograph. Erin Hill had been seeing a psychiatrist but, since the Erin is still alive, the doctor can not tell the investigators much about her due to the doctor-patient "privileged information." The shifty apartment manager Greg Abell gives them some of the apartment camera films. Things are not all serious at the office as one of the investigators, Abby Sciuto, brings in a friend.

The Marine dies and the psychiatrist then tells the investigators that Erin told her that she knew about the murder of a neighbor. The investigators also find that Greg Abell, the apartment maintenance supervisor, altered some of the apartment camera films he gave to the investigators and that he was dating the dead woman's older sister Devon Hill. The investigators bring the sister into their office and Gibbs questions her.

She tells them that the previous tenant of an apartment was a 92 year old man who kept a gold coin collection in his apartment. Supposedly the collection was worth more than a million dollars. The man caught the manager stealing coins from him and threatened to call the police and the manager killed him. The manager then found out that Erin knew about the crimes and killed her also. The investigators find that the manager impersonated the dead man and contacted a coin and bullion dealer about selling gold coins.

Gibbs and another investigator, Alex Quinn, impersonate employees of the coin dealer, presumably with the owner's permission.

Gibbs and Alex examine coins or pretend to examine coins. Outside, the suspect walks towards the shop.

The suspect is pulling a luggage carrier with a suitcase as such a valuable gold collection would weigh a lot. He nearly enters the shop but when one of the investigators accidently shows her badge, he then turns around and walks away.

The suspect pushes the two investigators away and starts running. Another investigator runs after him and tackles him.

The suitcase opens and dumps the goods onto the ground.

The coins are imitation or prop coins.
