The program was based on the Father Brown stories written by G. K. Chesterton from 1910 to 1936.
This episode is titled "The Head of Caesar" and was first broadcast on December 5, 1974.

Christabel's great-grandfather was a coin collector who assembled a large collection of ancient Roman coins.
Her father, the wealthy Colonel Carstairs, continued the collection, and when he died he left it to his older son Arthur.
The colonel left most of his money and a large house to Christabel and a small sum to the younger brother Giles.
A scene appears which is set when Colonel Carstairs was alive and competing with a coin dealer Mr. Truslove at auctions for rare coins.

Philip tells her that he doesn't have the coin but sold it to a dealer named Truslove for 50 pounds.
Father Brown informs Truslove that the coin was stolen and retrieves it.
The local artist's group is holding a costume party.
Christabel suggests moving the party to her house (where Philip lives).

He appears and gets into a struggle with Christabel.
A policeman shoots the man and Father Brown removes his facial covering.

to get more money by blackmailing his sister.
