"Bat Masterson" was a half-hour television program which ran on the NBC television network from 1958 to 1961. The program was loosely based on the real Bat Masterson who spent some time in the American West. He is portrayed by Gene Barry and frequently wears a derby hat and carries a cane.

This episode is titled "Blood on the Money" and was first broadcast on June 23, 1960.

The year is 1879 and Bat Masterson is in Santa Fe, New Mexico. His business partner is murdered and Bat takes his $5,000 to his partner's brother, a rancher and accused outlaw living near the Mexican Border. He encounters a feud between the rancher brother and another rancher.

To locate the brother Bat has placed advertisements in newspapers offering a $100 reward for the brother's location. A rancher answers the advertisement and invites Bat to his ranch.

Later, after a fight, Bat throws two $50 gold pieces to the rancher.
The coins land on the ground and show the reverses of imitation Spanish Doubloon gold coins.
