The 1945 film "The Unseen" is a mystery film about a widowed wealthy father who hires a young woman to take care of his two children. The nearby boarded up Tygarth house is the scene for mysterious events.
 
At a movie theater a little boy shows two half dollars which was a lot of money in 1945. Later the young woman finds a Walking Liberty half dollar on a shelf.

A little boy looking out a window witnesses a possible murder.
 
David Fielding, a wealthy widower, has two small children, Barney (Barnaby) and Ellen. He hires Elizabeth Howard, a young woman, to take care of them as a governess.

2. Meeting Miss Howard
Ellen likes Elizabeth but Barney doesn't as he misses Maxine, the previous governess who the father fired.
 
Marian Tygarth, the owner of the next door closed Tygarth house, lets the neighbors know that she plans to sell it.

3. Dr. Evans pays a visit
Dr. Evans is a local physician.
 
Elizabeth takes the children to see a movie.

4. At the movies
The film is the 1940 Western picture "North West Mounted Police". Barney offers to pay for the theatre tickets.

5. Barney shows the money
He shows two half dollars which is a lot of money for a child in 1945. Elizabeth asks Barney where he got the money and Ellen replies that it is his wages.
 
Later in the kitchen Elizabeth sees something under a sugar container.

Maxine, the previous governess, has been hanging around the neighborhood and visiting Barney. She enters the house and David finds her.

Apparently she had some bad habits.
 
Elizabeth discovers that the Fielding house basement connects with the Tygarth house basement.
 
Maxine has been leaving the half dollars for Barney who has been signaling to someone when the Tygarth house is safe to enter.

11. Shocking conclusion
Elizabeth and Barney enter the Tygarth house and see a shadowed man shoot Mrs. Tygarth. Both return to the Fielding house and tell Mr. Fielding and Dr. Evans.
 
With the murderer exposed and arrested the children resume play.
