The 1966 film "Murderers' Row" is a comedy film about Matt Helm (Dean Martin), a secret agent who is assigned to stop a group of villians called "BIG O" from blowing up the United States capital in Washington D.C. Along the way he encounters beautiful Suzie (Ann-Margret) and Coco Duquette (Camilla Sparv).

Matt is given a spy kit similar to the one given to James Bond in "From Russia With Love", however while James Bond receives 50 gold sovereigns, Matt has to make do with three British half crowns, worth around 50 US cents each at the time.

Britain half crown 1963
4. Great Britain Elizabeth II half crown 1963
Copper-nickel, 32 mm, 14.14 gm

These coins were minted from 1953 to 1970.
A half crown was two and one half shillings or one eighth of a pound.
At the time of the film (1966) a pound was worth US $2.80 making a half crown worth US 35 cents.

In 1971 Britain changed it's monetary system from the pound-shilling-pence system to a decimal system with a pound being equal to 100 new pence. The half crown then became obsolete.
