The 1954 British film "Fire Over Africa" is about glamorous woman secret agent
Joanna Dane (Maureen O'Hara) who is assigned to identify the head of a drug smuggling group
in the North African city of Tangier, which was at the time an international zone administered by
Great Britain, France, and Spain.
The coin is a Spanish 5 peseta coin dated 1949 and minted under the Franco regime. |

Many types of money are exchanged there and there are "cambio" stores for changing money everywhere.

A group of French, Spanish, and British officials meet to discuss efforts to eliminate a drug smuggling group.
Several male agents have been killed by the group. An American agent, Richard Farrell, suggests using a woman agent
and he recommends Joanna Dane who has worked for American intelligence agencies.

She reports to the American agent Farrell who asks her to check out two places, a bar named Frisco's
run by a woman of the same name, and a shop named Ali-Baba. Joanna leaves the room and then returns.

Joanna finds Farrell stabbed leaving her without a contact person. Before dying he tells her
that a man named "The Moor" works for him.

Joanna meets the manager Frisco and her looks and style get her a job at the place.
A man named Van Logan has been making repeated attempts to attract her.

She gives him a coin which has a piece of paper or tape on it.

The coin has an official date of 1949 but has a smaller actual minting date hidden in stars on the reverse.

Occasionally men get into fights over Joanna and one man actually pulls out a sword.

Van Logan takes some grapes to Malaga, Spain, but his boat is hijacked by another group and he loses his cargo.
Joanna has accompanied him and they land in Malaga.

She does and then drives away.

Joanna sees Van alive and he tells her that he is an American agent and was wearing
a bullet-proof vest when she shot him.
