The 1935 film "Captain Blood" is the adventures of a 17th century pirate captain.

In 1685 England during the reign of King James II Irish doctor Peter Blood is falsely convicted of treason and sentenced to be sent to Port Royal (Jamaica) in the West Indies to be sold as a slave. There he meets Arabella Bishop, his official owner.

A Spanish ship attacks Port Royal and the Spanish crew then heads for the clubs and bars allowing Peter Blood and the prisoners to take over the Spanish ship and use the ship to engage in piracy. Dr. Blood is now Captain Blood and in command of the ship.
