The Benicia Camel Barn Museum of California is located in Benicia, a small town near San Francisco.
The US Army had a military base, the Benicia Arsenal, from 1851 to 1964.
The US Secretary of War, Jefferson Davis, established the Camel Corps in 1855.
Later the Camel Corps was disbanded and the camels were taken to Benicia and sold.
