Automobile Daredevils
Prev Back Next
Daredevils performed with automobiles and motorcycles starting in the 1930's.

They were stunt drivers who drove cars and other vehicles for automobile thrill shows,
their stunts included loops, tailspins, barrel rolls, and intentional crashes.
These shows were sometimes held in conjuntion with county or state fairs.
The thrill show drivers also usually raced in stock car racing.

William Lindsay Gresham's 1953 book on carnivals, Monster Midway, has a section devoted
to thrill drivers.
