The City of Benicia was founded in 1847 and became prominent in the California Gold Rush.
A United States Army post and arsenal was located there.
Benicia briefly became the state capitol from 1853 to 1854.
It now houses residences, historic buildings, and a museum.
This chapter has merged with the Vallejo Naval Chapter.

The Mare Island Naval Shipyard was located in Vallejo, California and operated from 1854 to 1996. Many of the shipyard employees lived in Vallejo.
It now houses residences, historic buildings, and a large museum. This chapter is still active.
